At Horizon Wealth Advisors, we are committed to helping our clients through a proactive and tailored approach. As part of our fiduciary commitment, we always put our clients first by working to gain a deep understanding of each client and their unique situation so that we can be effective as both advisors and advocates. Our team is comprised of individuals from different backgrounds with a diverse set of qualifications who all share a passion for what we do.

Though we are usually working to gain an in-depth understanding of our clients, we thought we’d turn the tables and give others a chance to get to know us a bit more! Thus, we are officially kicking off our Employee Spotlight Series, where we ask our Horizon Wealth Advisors team members to share their stories.

This week we’re featuring our Partner and Director of Investments, Owen Murray, who has been a core member of the Horizon Wealth Advisors team for 16 years. Read on!

What are your typical job duties and responsibilities at Horizon Wealth Advisors?

I manage our clients’ investment portfolios by researching the funds, constructing the asset allocations, and handling the investment transactions.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

One aspect of my job that I thoroughly enjoy is staying on top of current news and the events that are impacting the market and the economy. I am then able to integrate that valuable information into our investment strategy for our clients.

How did you come to work for Horizon Wealth Advisors?

A former colleague and friend of mine introduced me to Larry, Horizon’s President, back when I was working for a money manager in Los Angeles. I was very interested in relocating back to Houston and I think Larry and I both felt like we would work well together. And we were right!

What 3 words would you use to best describe the culture at Horizon Wealth Advisors?

Our mission at Horizon is to give our clients the very best advice in order to help them achieve their goals. We work to take care of our clients by making them our top priority. It is hard to narrow a description down to three words.

How do you define success?

After years of being in the business, I can confidently say that success is defined as making a living by doing something that you really enjoy.

What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?

I’ve learned that the most important part of life is quality time spent with loved ones.
